Cairn Terriers in a Sorry State

Last week we accepted in two cairn terriers via our inspectors.

As you can see from the pictures below, they were in a bad way, very matted and covered in faeces.

This breed of dog needs a lot of coat care and the previous owner was struggling to meet this need.

The staff got stuck in shaved and bathed them and soon had them feeling a lot more comfortable.

After seeing our vet it was apparent that both of these dogs require extensive veterinary treatment before they are ready to rehome. This will include geriatric blood profiles, dentals, eye treatment, skin medication, xrays of hips and stifles and neutering. This pair should then be ready to rehome via our Elderly Animal Rehoming scheme.

Most of the old animals that enter the Centre require vet treatment and in order for us to continue with our fantastic Elderly Animal Rehoming Scheme we have set up a monthly donor Scheme to help to cover this expense. If you would like to support our EARS Scheme and help to provide medical care for animals like Fifi and Frazer then we would be so grateful if you could  please consider becoming a member of our Twilight Scheme. This scheme helps to ensure that we can continue helping as many old animals as possible and give them the loving retirement home that they deserve.
