At this time of year we would normally be planning our Annual General Meeting and preparing the Report and Accounts, and in mid-May we would be sending out the calling papers for the AGM which would normally be held in early June.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown our plans have necessarily had to be different and the AGM, as a result, has been postponed. We have provisionally booked a date in October in the hope that the pandemic will be on the wain by then and lockdown restrictions lifted. Under normal circumstances, the Trustees would end their tenures in June in order for a new election to take place at the AGM. We will all continue in our current roles until an AGM can be held in Autumn.
Our accounts must still be filed with the Charity Commission by 31st October and have been prepared for audit in the normal way – much of the work had been done before lockdown and we are liaising with our Auditors on a regular basis. Our Finance Manager is working very effectively from home, as is our Branch Manager, and our Animal Centre continues to provide care for those animals that were not able to go into foster homes. Currently we have 75 animals in our care, 35 that are in our centre and 40 in foster homes and we will continue to take in animals in need from the RSPCA Inspectors.
The Trustees continue to provide direction to our staff and regularly hold virtual meetings to oversee the branch operation and provide guidance and much needed support, especially to our fundraising team who are working very hard to find innovative ways of bringing in much needed income to offset the losses caused by the closure of our shops and the cancellation of events.
We hope that you are keeping safe and well and look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future when we can welcome you to our animal centre, the AGM or one of our fundraising events once more.
With best wishes
On behalf of the Board of Trustees
Liz Lindsay (Hon Chair).
