Apprentice Animal Care Assistant vacancy for a student undertaking an NVQ level 2. Students will be assessed by the College of Animal Welfare but will work at the RSPCA Animal Centre, Wade Street, Halifax, HX1 1SN
Vacancy description
Trainees will have the opportunity of developing their skills with Dogs, Cats and a wide variety of small animals.
They will receive on site training not only for animal husbandry but eventually for viewing animals to the public, customer care and assisting with veterinary clinics.
This is a physically demanding role that will require a high level of fitness.
Our Apprentice Animal Care Assistants are required to be able to work in all areas of the Centre. They are rotated between, kennels, cattery and the small animal block. This provides variety for the staff and ensures that they have a rounded knowledge of all species.

Feeding
Cleaning
Grooming
First Aid
Handling & Restraint
Health & Safety
Customer Care
Dog Walking
Assessing
Using the branch soft ware- Animal Shelter Manager
Administering flea/worm/ and other medication (supervised)
Viewing animals to the public
Working Week- 5 days / week Tuesday to Saturday. 37.5 hours/week
8.30 am- 5.00pm
