Our Queens Road Charity Shop Manager Charlie is taking on a huge challenge this year to raise funds for our Branch. Charlie is training hard to take on the mammoth 26.2 miles of the LONDON MARATHON!!!
Charlie is very passionate about animal welfare and the work we do in the local community. She is also an avid runner so when the chance to run the London Marathon came up it was an easy decision for her to take part!
''Ive been a runner since 2012 starting out just to challenge myself. I did my first charity race in 2014 - a 10k run at the Callanish Stones on the Outer Hebrides, which I completed in the time of 1hr 03mins. Ive since done 5 half marathons and 26 10ks and my quickest time now is 52:49mins!!! I never thought I wanted to run a marathon as just a half Marathon really hurts(!) But as soon as I knew we had a place in the London Marathon I jumped at the chance for us to raise money and successfully finish the race! I cant wait for 28th April, I am running 3 or 4 10ks a week now with one monster run on my day off increasing in miles weekly ( this weeks 18 miles!) So bring on the CHALLENGE!!!''
Please support Charlie and all of her hard work towards this Challenge, your donation will help us care for the many unwanted, neglected or abused animals in our Centre.
You can also donate at any one of our Charity Shops or Animal Centre
We work tirelessly every day to make sure they get the best care possible before finding their forever homes and we could not do this without your support!
We've been overwhelmed by our community's support and Charlie has been training every day so she is ready for 28th April! Charlies Friends have also been helping raise funds at work in some very tasty ways - like offering Lemon Drizzle Cake in return of sponsoring her!
As the days of the Marathon draw near, Charlie has set herself another challenge of running to each one of our Charity Shops!
Yes, she really is that crazy!?! But it is all part of her training to raise funds for the Animals in our Centre, so please support her if you can!
