Lucy and Jutta pass the Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizen Award
At the RSPCA Halifax & Huddersfield we understand the importance of training dogs, and like to offer all of our dogs the opportunity to learn new skills whilst they stay with us. We successfully registered the centre as an approved training venue for the Kennel Club Puppy and Bronze Good Citizen award in January, and are delighted to announce that one of our ex cruelty case dogs passed the Bronze award shortly after on 14th Feb.
The Bronze award involves teaching your dog some exercises such as waiting at doorways, walking on a loose lead, staying in one position for a minute, recalling to the handler, control around distractions and accepting handling, grooming and inspection from the handler.
Jutta Robinson, Kennel assistant and handler of Lucy trained hard, and passed the Bronze test first time with flying colours. Jutta and all the staff are very proud of this achievement, which shows that rescue dogs can make fantastic, loyal and obedient pets with some time, training and love.
After a long cruelty case Lucy is finally available for rehoming, and the family who end up adopting Lucy will be very fortunate to have such a well mannered and well behaved lady, although the staff will probably all shed a tear the day we have to say farewell to her!
