The next RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield and District dog training course will commence on Saturday 18th of April. Classes are seven weeks in length and will help teach owners how to teach their dog's new skills and help solve any problems they may be having with their dogs. The classes will be taught using clicker training, which is a kind, fun and effective way to teach your dog. The classes are aimed at all ages and breeds of dog and will include the APDT Good Companion Scheme. The class times are 4.15pm and 5.15pm.
The courses will be run by Mike Cuthbert the Branch's Dog Training and Behaviour Advisor. Mike has over ten years experience of working with and training dogs of all ages and breeds during his career with the RSPCA. Mike is also a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (membership number 01240) and he uses reward based methods when training dogs and owners.
The first class will take place at the Animal Centre without your dog. This will give Mike an opportunity to meet you and discuss the course and any of your queries. He will also give some practical training on using a clicker by demonstrating with one of our dogs. This will ensure a smooth and productive start to the first session with your dog .
You will have the opportunity at this initial session to buy clickers, treat bags etc and we would also ask that you pay for the course at this time.
The venue for these classes will be held at the YMCA in Halifax and will run weekly The venue for the classes will be the YMCA . The cost of the course will be £80(all of which will go directly to the branch to help fund the vital animal welfare work that we do).
