We lost Starlight the kitten, please help us raise £732 towards her siblings care

💙 We lost Starlight the kitten. We don’t want to lose her three siblings. Please help us raise £732 towards their care, in this tragic reminder of why neutering matters.

Four tiny kittens were found abandoned in a box in the Huddersfield area, far too young to be away from their mum. The wonderful people who found them did everything they could to help at home, but when the kittens started to deteriorate, they contacted us for specialist care. We’re so grateful they did, as these four tiny kittens were gravely poorly.

Sadly, one little girl, who we have named Starlight, was already too unwell to save. One of our incredible care team held her in her hands and rushed to get her veterinary help, but heartbreakingly, it was too late. 💔

Her three siblings, Starbright, Sunbright and Sunlight, are still fighting. They are suffering with Giardia, conjunctivitis, diarrhoea and severe flea infestations. They have received urgent veterinary treatment and fluids and remain incredibly vulnerable.

It’s still touch and go, but our team are doing everything in their power to give these three little lives a chance.

💙 Can you help us raise £732 towards their care?

Every donation will help towards their veterinary treatment, medication, food and specialist care.

We hate to share sad news with you, but this is the reality our team and rescues across the country are facing every single day. Starlight’s story is a tragic reminder of why neutering matters.

We are seeing a huge 30% increase in pregnant cats and kittens arriving in our care, and we simply cannot accept seeing precious lives lost when responsible neutering could have prevented unwanted litters in the first place. Please neuter and vaccinate your cats and seek veterinary help if they become unwell.

If you’re struggling to afford neutering, please ask us for help. We would much rather guide you towards the support you need than see another kitten suffer.

If you think you know who these kittens belong to, please get in touch. There will be no judgement. We simply want to help arrange support to get mum neutered and prevent this happening again.

Sadly, this story doesn’t end there…as we began writing this appeal, another kitten named Jeff arrived in our care after his owner struggled to manage a severe flea infestation. Jeff was again far too young to have been sold and taken away from his mum. We’ve attached a photo of Jeff to this appeal, and if you recognise him and know where his mum is, we will provide neutering assistance for her too.

We’re currently preparing to rebuild our cattery as part of Phase Two of our Really Big ReFURb, because the need for our services is growing. Your support will help us create a brighter future for local animals in need, ensuring there is a safe rescue space available when humans have sadly let them down.

A note from our local team: As we face this shocking increase in animals needing our care, we’re also facing a lot of misguided anger online.

We want to remind you that we are a small, independently funded local RSPCA branch, completely separate from the National RSPCA, its cruelty hotline and inspectorate. Our care team are doing everything they possibly can to help animals in our community, despite the incredibly difficult circumstances we are facing.

We understand that people have frustrations, and we’re always here to listen and help where we can. But please don’t direct that anger towards our local team. Right now, we truly need your support and understanding more than ever. Spreading misinformation and anger online not only affects our team, but risks taking vital time, support and resources away from the animals who need us most.

Please help us keep helping them. 💙 #Adoptober #RSPCA #Halifax #Huddersfield #Bradford #RescueCentre #AdoptdontShop
