Here at the RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield & Bradford Branch, we rely entirely on the support of our local community to help fund our work rehabilitating and rehoming animals across the branch area, and further afield. That’s why we were so thrilled when Huddersfield Lions, a local branch of Lions Club International, recently reached out to offer their support.

Outgoing president Hannah, who adopted the beautiful Kilo from our branch in 2025, generously chose our charity to receive a wonderful £200 donation on behalf of the Lions Club towards our Really Big ReFURb, for which we are incredibly grateful! It was our pleasure to welcome Hannah, her son, and Allan from the club into our animal centre earlier this week where they met some of our current residents, and even got a sneak peak at the refurbishment which the funds are supporting.
On top of that, the Lions will be running the “Doggy Dash” race night on Friday 25th September, kindly hosted by Lindley Liberal Club. This exciting fundraiser will see wooden dogs racing to be first across the finish line, with every race helping raise vital funds for animals in need at RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield & Bradford.

Tickets are just £8 including a pie and peas supper, with the opportunity to name a racing dog for just £2 extra! Every race winner will receive a prize alongside race-night totes, raffle, tombola and more!
Tickets are limited and are already selling fast, so why not join us for a night where we put the “fun” into “fundraising” and help us reach our Really Big ReFURb goals?!

Every penny brings us one step closer to completing our new centre, giving thousands more animals the safe, comfortable environment they deserve, while ensuring we’re here whenever they need us most.
With enormous thanks to Hannah and everyone at Huddersfield Lions – we are so thankful for their support!
