A week ago, three tiny 4-week-old kittens were tragically found abandoned in a tote bag next to a bin in Huddersfield. They were cold, starving, weak, covered in fleas and there was no sign of their mum. It’s horrendous to think anyone could simply dump these beautiful kittens so callously …knowing how much they were suffering and leave them completely on their own.

Thanks to some kind-hearted people who brought them to our Centre, we gave them immediate care, bathing them to remove the fleas and placing them in a loving foster home for round-the-clock support.
We named these amazing kittens Fred, Velma and Daphne.
Sadly, Fred was so weak and in such a sorry state that, despite our best efforts and constant care, he couldn’t fight on and passed away. We’re all so devastated for Fred and his little siblings.

We weren’t going to share this heartbreaking story with you… but we need to show the reality of what we’re facing right now and the true scale of today’s kitten crisis.
Our team is seeing the highest rates of abandonment that we’ve ever seen before. Although every resident is beautiful and precious, it’s devastating to watch this crisis grow worse every day.
Velma and Daphne are thankfully still with us, receiving specialist care and growing stronger by the day… but the heartbreaking loss of Fred shows just how tough things are right now.
We’re facing a very real kitten crisis. Our centre is under huge pressure with more and more abandoned and neglected kittens needing urgent help.
That’s why we’re urging everyone who owns cats to please neuter them – it saves lives and reduces suffering.
We really hate sharing sad news, but this is the sad reality of rescue work. Fred’s story is a painful reminder of why your support matters.
💙 Your donations will help us continue our care for Daphne, Velma, and the many other vulnerable kittens who are with us now…. and who will inevitably need us in the coming days, weeks, months and beyond.
