When Teddy arrived at our Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District Animal Centre in late April, his condition totally broke our hearts.
He had been rescued from unimaginable neglect – withdrawn, in excruciating pain and suffering from one of the worst cases of sarcoptic mange we’ve seen.
Over 75% of his fur was gone. His skin was red raw, cracked and bleeding. Teddy was in constant pain – the result of his owners failing to seek even the most basic veterinary care. A court later heard he had been left like this for at least a month.
But Teddy’s story didn’t end there.
Our team acted fast, giving him the lifesaving treatment he so desperately needed. That meant: regular medicated baths, pain relief and medicated cream, close monitoring, quiet rest, and of course, gentle love and reassurance every day.
After nearly a month of intensive care, Teddy finally turned a corner.✨ His fur began to grow back.
✨ His eyes brightened.
✨ And finally – his tail wagged.
We named him Teddy because once his coat came through, he looked just like a fluffy teddy bear — complete with the most adorable underbite you’ve ever seen!
Despite everything he’d suffered, Teddy remained gentle, loving, and unbelievably forgiving. He was rehomed in June, and now lives the happy life he always deserved.
