Poor Bella arrived in our care so overweight she couldn’t stand

???? ????? ??????? ?? ??? ???? ???????? ????, ?? ???? ??? ??????’? ????? ?? ?? ???? ???? ??????? ?? ??? ??????…? In fact Bella was so Obese that staff had to use a sling to be able to lift her at all and after a week in our care, she had actually gained 1kg due to not being able to walk!

Our team has worked hard to develop a new (and even stricter) diet regime for Bella, including very gentle exercise. This was a real challenge as Bella would collapse with even a small amount of over-exertion due to her size and ill-health – her legs simply couldn’t support her huge frame.
We’re delighted to let you know that Bella now weighs in at 43.7kg, which is huge progress for her… but there is still a long way to go. Our team are working to reduce Bella’s weight down to a healthier 30kg and then we will be able to decide what her ideal weight should be and aim to maintain this.
Bella is now able to walk around the Animal Centre without the use of a sling and our team are seeing a daily improvement in her exercise abilities and her health and happiness. Canine obesity is no joke and really is a form of Animal Abuse if left to get out of control – please make sure you keep your dog’s diet and exercise in check to ensure a long, healthy, and happy life, no dog should suffer as Bella has.
She is currently still on pain relief as her legs are still under a huge amount of strain supporting her body – we hope that once Bella hits her ideal weight she’ll be able to come off her pain relief and she is now up for adoption on our website. Bella is of course still on her journey to being a healthy weight and any potential adopters need to be aware of this and ensure she always maintains a healthy diet and exercise regime to ensure the rest of her life is spent being happy, active and enjoying all of the things a dog should!
If you would like to show your support for Bella and our team as we continue her weight loss journey, any donations would be very gratefully received, visit: https://www.rspcahalifaxhuddersfieldbradford.org.uk/make-a-donation/  If you would like to adopt Bella or find out more, visit the adoption section of our website.
