3 cats, 1 pregnant Mum and 3 tiny kittens all dumped in a single carrier ….at the back of a Bradford Charity Shop. Can you help us with their £1254 care costs?

We were truly shocked to discover 4 adult cats and 3 kittens all squished into one small cat carrier, abandoned and left to fend for themselves at the back of a Bradford Charity Shop on 5th April. To make matters worse, after an initial vet assessment, we learned that one of the adult females was pregnant too!

It doesn’t bear thinking about how traumatic this experience must’ve been them … but especially for a new mother trying to care for her tiny kittens in such a terrifying environment – and for a heavily pregnant Mum who could give birth at any moment! Thankfully all the cats survived their ordeal and miraculously came out unscathed.

Our Animal Team immediately cared for the 7 cats and kittens who’ve now been lovingly named: Pluto, Claudia, Lyra and Minnie! Minnie arrived with kittens; Gemini, Jupiter and Orion and just a matter of days later, pregnant Lyra gave birth to her kittens; Lana, Louis & Lux!

We’re incredibly thankful that all of the cats and kittens have gone from strength to strength in our care, with special thanks to our life-saving fosterers who stepped up to help provide a safe space and vital care to our Mum cats and their beautiful babies! However, 7 cats unexpectedly needing our care is a huge financial stress for our local and self-funded Centre… and this has now increased to an even bigger (albeit adorable!) 10 in cats in total from the original 7!

We’ve estimated that all of the testing, treatment and neutering costs for our 10 cats amounts to a jaw-dropping £1254! We would be so grateful for any donations to help us cover this hefty and unexpected bill. We’re delighted to let you all know that Pluto (most likely the father of all of these gorgeous kittens!) has now found his loving forever home with an amazing family already (wahoo!) and it won’t be long until the other 9 cats and kitties will be available for adoption too! So keep an eye on our website if you’re looking to open your heart and home to a new feline family member. It goes without saying that these little fighters deserve to find loving, safe forever homes and experience what true love feels like…after such a tough and scary start in life.

We also hope that by sharing this story, it highlights the importance of having your cats neutered. Not only does it have countless health benefits to both males and females – but it also prevents your cats from having countless unwanted litters and ensuring situations like this don’t happen again.

Thank you for taking the time to read this story, please share this to help us and highlight the importance of neutering. Thank you so much to our amazing supporters, without you we couldn’t be there to help cats like Pluto, Lyra, Claudia, Minnie and all of their beautiful kittens.
