We were simply delighted when Katie Aynsley, a supporter of the RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield and Bradford Branch, got in touch with us a few months ago with an excellent idea for a fundraiser – a netball tournament! After lots of hard work and planning (and the support of kind friends), Katie’s idea for Paws to Passes came to fruition yesterday, Sunday 30th June, and our delight was compounded by the success of the event which took place at North Halifax Grammar School.
Paws to Passes saw 5 local teams competing in a fun netball tournament, following a yoga warmup at the start. With generous donations of baked goods from Lucy’s Little Bakehouse and other volunteers, there were delicious sandwiches and cake on offer to keep players and spectators energised over the afternoon, which went down a storm. Katie, who already goes above and beyond for us as a regular volunteer, pulled together a brilliant community event thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Paws to Passes raised an absolutely fantastic £434 for us, which will help greatly towards the care and rehoming of the animals at our Animal Centre.
We can’t thank Katie and the other volunteers enough for their wonderful efforts, and an enormous thank you also goes out to the teams who gave up their Sunday afternoon to play, not to mention everyone else who came along to support and enjoy the goodies on offer!
