The winner of our Lonely Hearts Competition is…

We had so many heart-warming entries into our ‘Lonely Hearts Advert’ competition this February but there can only be one winner! Our judges found it incredibly hard to select the winner but we’d like to say a huge congratulations to…

Rowan Class year 4 of Bradshaw Primary School – who wrote this brilliant advert for Abigail:

“Next to a cosy, warm fire you will find me: a fluffy, sweet nice cat called Abigail. I am very cute and friendly. I love to lay down in a jigsaw box as if I am a puzzle piece myself!

I would be a special addition to your family. I love cuddles but I do like my own space as every Empress does: I don’t want young children near me or other animals (I don’t like being picked up or being sneaked up on). I am very well house-trained and enjoy cleaning myself so I’ll be easy to look after.

Did you know I have a superpower? Even though I am hard of hearing, I am very clever and can still concentrate on things around me… Especially food!

I promise if you make me a part of your family, I will give you joy and laughter, give you permission to stroke my beautiful, snow-white fur and love you forever!”

Isn’t that just brilliant? Well done Rowan Class! You’ve won a rosette which we will post out to the school for you very soon!

We had so many stunning entries that we also selected a few runners up, who will also receive a highly commended rosette in the post. Well done to:

Gemma, Year 4, Howard Park Community School

Two year old female cat Suzie is looking for a caring owner. She loves to play with children over the age of twelve and is house trained so won’t have any accidents. Could she be yours? Suzie is not the best with other animals but she will be a great only child! She’s amazing company and will cheer you up when you are sad. Do you have space in your heart for this gorgeous girl?

Reigan, Year 4, Howard Park Community School

One year old males, Mint and Dill are longing for a forever home. These dashing degus are energetic and love rearranging their enclosure in their spare time. They need a perfect home and can be held by the hand although they are a bit nervous at the moment. Could they be with you? Please adopt the most heartwarming and best duo to adopt!

Finally, we would like to congratulate and thank all of the amazing schools and students who took part and even raised funds for the animals in our care! Since the beginning of February, 70% of the animals we featured in our Valentails appeal have now either been reserved or adopted! Isn’t that wonderful news? We’re sure the lonely hearts adverts you wrote definitely helped our animals find their happy-ever-after and the funds raised by Cumberworth First & Colden Junior School have helped cover vital care such as food, medicine and veterinary treatment! You should all be so proud of your efforts.

Special thanks to…
